Review: The Iron Flower (The Black Witch Chronicles #2) by Laurie Forest

GoodReads Blurb:

Elloren Gardner and her friends were only seeking to right a few wrongs, but their actions have propelled them straight into the ranks of the realm-wide Resistance against Gardnerian encroachment. As the Resistance struggles against the harsh rulings of High Priest Marcus Vogel and the Mage Council, Elloren begins to realize that none of the people she cares about will be safe if Gardneria seizes control of the Western Realm.

With tensions heating up in Verpacia, more and more Gardnerian soldiers continue to descend upon the university…led by none other than Lukas Grey, now commander of the newly rebuilt Fourth Division base. Though Elloren tries to keep him at arm’s length, Lukas is determined to wandfast to her, convinced that she has inherited her grandmother’s magic—the prophesied power of the Black Witch. As his very nearness seems to awaken a darkness inside her, Elloren finds it more and more difficult to believe that she’s truly powerless, as her uncle always claimed.

Caught between her growing feelings for the rebellious Yvan Guriel and the seductive power offered by Lukas Grey, Elloren must find a way to stay true to what she knows is right and protect everyone she loves…even if that means protecting them from herself.

My Review: 5 stars. 5 stars all day long

Where do I start with this? I know! So I bought this book on release day. That was months ago. It has sat on my shelf for the better part of 7 months. Why you might ask? Because that means that the next book will be closer to me and not as far away. I have this thing with collecting series that I really love, I want them all in hard cover with the dust jackets intact and not damaged in any way at all. This is one of those series that I will own every single book in hard cover (minus the novellas I will have a hard copy of those though)

Laurie Forest has this way with words, you get so sucked up into the story that it feels like you are watching it play out right in front of you, and I for one am 100% down with that. The characters are flawless, the plot and story is amazing and riveting and just wow. This has to be one of my top 5 all time favorite series that I have ever had the pleasure to read. So far every one of the books have all been a solid 5 stars for me, and this one is no different. Even with so many sensitive subjects that this author touches down upon, still so damn good. SO GOOD!

I anticipate that the next installment in this series I will have all of the same feelings. I can’t wait!!

Have you read this book? What are your thoughts on it?

April Currently reading and TBR

So what is in your TBR pile?

So March has come and gone! I actually accomplished a few reads that I am quite proud of myself for, there will be a march wrap up post probably tomorrow!! I think for march I read a total of 6 books, which I’m super pumped about!! Seem’s like I have gotten out of my reading slump which makes me super excited! So on to the currently reading and then my April TBR!!

So the 2 books I’m about to show you, I have like 4 or so chapters in each of them left. They should have been finished yesterday however, I didn’t want to be up until like 1 am as I had to work in the morning. Both of these books are AMAZING. And I can’t wait to continue both series when they come out with more books.

The Iron Flower by Laurie Forest (The Black Witch Chronicles #2 )

Oh this book is so deliciously good, it’s so hard to put down to go and do other things. This is 100% one of my top 10 books that I have read this year. Easily. I have around chapters left to read and then I will be really sad until the next book to comes out! However, I am super excited for the next book to come out! I can’t wait to continue this series!

Furyborn(Empirium #1)
by Claire Legrand

I have been listening to this book on my way to and from work. Its so engaging. I don’t want to stop listening to it as I’m driving, as in I want to keep driving so that I can keep listening. Audiobooks have become a really big part of my life. There is something so peaceful about someone else reading you a story. If you find that really good narrator keep going with it, you will not be dissapointed. This will be another series that I continue when the next books come out!

April Reads!

And that’s it! That’s my April TBR pile! There is still a little bit of wiggle room in there to add more books, and that isn’t including the audiobooks that I am going to read this month either. Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout is an ARC that I received from NetGalley and the Publisher to read and to review, all of the other books were purchased by me.
